Face Exfloliater/Scrub

When I stayed with my grandmother, she would take one look at me and say “you’ve been eating the wrong food and you need to do regular face scrubs.”

Here it is. It’s particularly good for oily, spotty skin and wonderful for all other types too. If you have dry skin don’t use the lemon juice.

Mix together a teaspoon of olive oil, a little sugar, and a squeeze of lemon juice and massage in small circles around the face. Wipe off with a cotton wool pad dipped in Rose Water.

Now let’s look at these simple ingredients in detail.

Olive oil – A cleanser, moisturiser, protector of the skin, penetrating deeply into the skin without clogging pores. The Phoenicians, Egyptians, Greeks and Romans all used it as an anti-aging remedy. Contains four major antioxidants, including Vit A and E. (Vit E helps restore skin elasticity), has polyhenols, phytosterols and hydroxytrosols, all neutralisng free radicals. Excellent for psoriasis, eczema, stretch marks. Can be used as shaving oil.

Sugar – Used as an gentle exfoliator to remove dead cells from the skin.

Lemon Juice – Calcium, Vit C, magnesium, potassium, minerals, antioxidents. It has anti-bacterial and antifungal properties, helps acne and acne scars. Helps prevent oily skin.

Rose Water – A forgotten skin wonder. All skin types benefit. Gentle anti-bacterial properties so helps with redness, inflammation and acne. It doesn’t dry out your skin so great for dry skin too. It helps with under-eye circles and softens the skin. It’s great for insect bites and sun burn.
